HERS Ratings - Live Better in a HERS Rated Home. HERS rated homes are good for your family’s health and comfort, your finances, the environment and the country!

Santa Fe City Green Codes - The Residential Green Building Code for new single-family, attached and detached, including guest houses requires a HERS (Home Energy Rating System) Index and a WERS (Water Efficiency Rating Score) rating.

Santa Fe County Green Building Codes -  The 2016 SLDC governs land use and development throughout the unincorporated areas of the County. The 2016 SLDC contains the regulations and amendments that a property owner must follow when building or remodeling a structure.  Once approved by the county, your plans will be review by the NM Construction Industries (CID) and they will issue the building permit. They will also be doing all the inspections and issue the Certificate of Occupancy.

The county currently (4/1/22) shows 5 forms they want completed in addition to a full set of plans, and the documents from the Energy Rater showing an ERI of 61 or lower.

All of these forms have been converted to PDF Forms so you download and complete. The sections where you describe driving directions is awkward so keep it short.

1.) Development Permit Application

2.) Multi-Purpose State Building Application (also used by CID)

3.) Residential Energy Plan Review Checklist (also used by CID-see instruction under CID)

4.) Application for Permit to Construct (SF)
